Relationships is like the new currency of the online space. When you grow and cultivate relationships with those you interact with online, then you are setting up yourself for a major increase of new followers to your social media pages.
There is a right way and a wrong way of soliciting relationships online.
The key to growing successfully online is by having the right relationships. Those of us who have social media pages have alot of persons on our friends list. But, how many of those "friends" help you push your business on a regular basis? Think on this, and write down the number of persons who can. If you don't have alot, then it's time to fill your friend's list with quality persons who are aligned closely with your ideal clients. So, here's how you can do that in the right way.
Go to the groups that you belong to that are aligned with your business. For example, if you are an interior decorator, then I'm sure you have joined groups that focus in interior decorating, design, home construction, real estate etc. The members of those groups are filled with your potential clients. So, you go down the list and look at their profiles. If you believe building a relationship with that person can help you extend your reach online, then send them a friend request. The person is more likely to accept your request if you have things in common. The first thing they will see is that you both belong to the same group. Having one or more friends in common is another plus, as they may trust the request more.
When they accept, do not leave it there. Send them a DM to thank them for accepting your request, and let them know why you reached out. That way, they will know that you are genuine. You have to nurture the relationship after that by commenting on their posts, also liking and sharing. Reach out ever so often to ask how they are going. Ask them if there is anything you can do to help. Whatever you do or say, be genuine! They will definitely reciprocate sooner or later.
Don't try to take their clients or followers! What you should do is ask them if you can share an offer that you have, and let their followers opt-in. This is the correct way to grow your list with their audience. Later on in the relationship, you can ask for collaborations.
Don't get into financial transactions through online relationships. This is where things can go bad really fast. There are many ways to get things done from where you are. When you get involved in cash transactions, loans and investments, it is highly possible to get your name and business tarnished online if you are not able to repay. So, I'm urging you, stay clear from these types of relationships.
If by chance you have had a bad relationship, it is your duty to fix it. Don't leave it up to the other person. If it involves money, do not run or hide. Reach out to the person and find out how you can solve the issue. If the person does not want to hear, that's okay. You have done your part, and you can feel secure in that.

In my own business, I have had many lead magnets that always get me results. Those results, came by creating an offer that is just irresistible!
What makes a good Lead Magnet?
To get the attention of your ideal clients, there are key elements of an irresistible Lead Magnet that must be present.
1. It must solve at least one REAL problem FAST - And your Lead Magnet should deliver on that promise. The problem should be something that your ideal client is burning to solve. That way, they are more likely to remain on your list.
2. Must be SPECIFIC - The recipient must be clear on your offering, or they will just ignore it.
3. MUST GIVE VALUE - This is in all caps, because it is the factor that makes the ideal client say YES to your offer.
4. Must be easy to access - Your lead magnet must be easy to get. Don't complicate things with to many words. The Opt-In should be above the fold, so the client can take action quickly.
5. Be the expert! - Hey, you are giving something of value, therefore, you must show up as the expert. Don't quench your goodness! Give the best of you in your Lead Magnet, and watch your list grow!

The New Year causes us to have feelings of newness all around. With that momentum, I want you to think about new business ideas. There is absolutely no reason why you can't start a new business to add to your income stream. With advancements to the Internet, it is now as easy as ever to get new ideas. You can also start without a dime.
In this Blog, I show you the ways you can get those ideas.
You can think about these things:
1. Do you want to have a product or service based business? If you love selling, or have some capital to invest, you can create an online store to sell products that are in demand. If you love to serve, or have a special talent or skill, you can look at starting a service based business. Weigh the pros and cons, and look at what will be best for you.
2. What are you good at? Go back over your past jobs or talents and detail what you are good at. What excites you? What can you do that is better than anyone else? Think on these things and write them down.
3. What do people say you are good at? Ok, you don't want to pat your own back. So, ask at least five of your close relatives or friends what they would say is your spacial skill. They will tell you! Write down their responses.
4. What big problem needs a solution? There are so many challenges in the world today. Write down what challenges you face on a daily basis that don't have solutions. Think about how you can fulfill the needs of those challenges.
5. What service or product do you wish was around that just isn't?
6. Analyse trends. Search on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Reddit and BuzzFeed for what's trending. Look at what people are talking and raving about. Once you get in early on trends, it's much easier to capitalize on early entry products and services.
7. Make a business out of your own ideas! Become an "Idea Bank". Compile and list business ideas that you have researched

Blakely landed her first major department store order with Neiman Marcus and appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s “favorite things” list in her first year. Over the years, she expanded her product line to include panties, bras and other shapewear.

Starting out business can be a challenge. Especially if you don't have the support from the beginning. Having an idea is great, but creating a successful business from the onset takes a lot of strategy, guidance and capital investment.

When I started out business 11 years ago, I had no money for investment. I was in my twenty's. Young and full of ideas. My mother-in-law had just got her property released into her hands since her 20 year mortgage had ended. She loved the idea her son and I had to start and office supply store, and she offered to invest in us. This was great, because the value of the property was high. We were able to secure a loan, as our bankers could not wait to take the property as collateral. In a few years, this would turn out a nightmare we did not expect, since we had no support from a business mentor.
We had years of gain. However, gain with support is always better. That way, you will be held accountable for your actions, and you will be able to make better decisions. Our first taste of pain came with the crash of the economy in 2009. It became very difficult to keep up with payments to our bankers. And, of course, they took advantage of this. We were offered refinancing after two years, which took our mortgage back up to the maximum amount. At the time, we thought that was the only option. We would come to learn, that you always have options.
A few years later, we could not keep up. We had failed. What would we do? What move would we make? We had lost everything. Our gain had turned to pain. I'm so grateful that we were able to come back from it. It took over three years, but we did it. We had learned the hard way about having a business without support. We tasted the gain, and had to overcome the pain.
You will experience pain in business more than once. Some say that's the sign of a true entrepreneur. But, it's what you do through that pain that determines if the effects are long term or short term. I would stress that you should have support ready. That may be a mentor, business advisor, business coach or consultant. Sometimes when you are experiencing pain, you don't think clearly. And most times, as an entrepreneur, you don't know it all. An experienced entrepreneur will ask what is your next step.
Think about someone who has just started the gym. Their main goal is to have better health and a banging body. They would say they are successful when that goal is achieved. However, in order to get that success, they have to train hard. They will have to go through initial pain every time they are working on a new body part. It's also true for business. You may have many new businesses as you grow. Some will work, and some will not work. You may have to work harder on one, and have smooth sailing in another. The degree of pain you experience can be minimized if you have a great trainer.
